To provide oversight and assistance within the career center and prepare Career Coach program clients to successfully enter the workforce or upgrade their employment. This position reports to the Director of Career and Business Engagement who reviews performance annually.





  • Recruit, assist and work with the clients to identify training needs, develop and implement onsite trainings.


  • Design, Organize, and deliver digital skills training programs appropriate to the client skill need. This include, but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs and Slides to the needs to external and internal clients


  • Assist with enrollment and intake process and keep accurate sign-in records of usage of  Digital Career Accelerator lab and equipment.


  • Develop training presentations to work with identified client needs and current best practices in digital literacy and promote the Digital Career Accelerator workshops to Goodwill Industries stakeholders, community leaders and clients.


  • For new customers, ensure they complete the new client paperwork and resume worksheet.


  • Provide basic assessment of the need of each customer and assist him/her in locating the appropriate tools needed.


  • Coaches participates regarding career development, including administering and interpreting career assessment tools.


  • Keep accurate and current required statistics and knowledgeable of current labor market trends.


  • Coordinate interviewing opportunities on-site and off-site for customers as applicable.



  • Ensure all assessments, releases and paperwork are complete to open the individual's file.


  • Meet individually with participants to determine skill level, industry experience, and education/training needs


  • Guide participants through assessments and create an individualized career plan


  • Assist with scheduling workshop attendance and enrollment into programs at partnering education/training institutions to enhance job readiness and employability


  • Assist with developing resumes and cover letters, identify opportunities for employment and assist with the application and interview process


  • Review and assess all background information concerning strengths, abilities, and vocational preferences, as well as needs and limitations


  • With information given, and assessment of situation, be able to provide referrals to community-based agencies that can provide needs that are not obtainable at Goodwill.


  • Serve as an advocate for the client to ensure that his/her needs and interest are the core of the program.


  • Participate in inter- and intra-departmental meetings as scheduled.




  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Social Services or related field. A minimum of 1 year of college and related work experience is required.


  • Ability to motivate others and understand the needs of individuals with disadvantages and/or disabilities.


  • Ability to handle competing demands and effectively prioritize responsibilities.


  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills


  • Must be able to work with individuals at all levels of the organization and negotiate win-win solutions to conflicts.


  • Ability to work with minimal supervision


  • Ability to relate to individuals coming from a variety of economic and ethnic backgrounds, as well as cultural differences.


  • Must be able to pass a drug screen


  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check


  • Must have a valid driver's license and provide proof of automobile insurance.
