JOB OBJECTIVE 

Assists management of retail store in implementing, administering, and directing the merchandise processing; works with retail store management to implement the policies and procedures of Goodwill's retail operations activities, and supports the mission of Goodwill Industries. Position reports to the store manager. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Knows and understands the Goodwill Mission: "Strengthen communities by empowering individuals and families through education, training and job placement".

 

  1. Coordinates activities of Production Associates in the processing and distribution function to achieve daily production goals.

 

  1. Plans and implements work schedules, estimates employee-hour requirements and makes every effort to provide employee coverage for merchandise processing.

 

  1. Follows up on assigned work schedule to assure complete and proper work performance.

 

  1. Makes work performance standards known to all associates to meet customer satisfaction. Handles customer complaints.

 

  1. Trains employees so they are aware of what is expected of them in work performance and occupational safety.

 

  1. Maintains the stability and reputation of the retail store by complying with all legal requirements, and enhancing the agency's image in each public contact.

 

  1. Enhances safety program by following all Federal, State and agency safety requirements; attends required training; reports all accidents/damage/need for repairs to agency property to management immediately; completes necessary paperwork.

 

  1. Adheres to standard agency policies, procedures and occupational safety standards. Maintains security of the premises and merchandise.

 

  1. Ensures that sales floor is kept well stocked and that the merchandise is properly  

 

  1. Participates in the interviewing, hiring and termination decisions for all Production personnel.

 

  1. Makes daily assessment of sales floor and coordinates daily production to meet the needs of the sales floor.

 

  1. Recommends personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, discharges and disciplinary measures.

 

  1. Evaluates work performance of employees and completes performance appraisal.

 

  1. Follows dress code and wear designated identification as provided.

 

  1. Works with Transportation Department to ensure containers and donations are ordered as needed.

 

  1. Ensures 2 textile audits are completed per textile hanger per day and all    

           other processed racks are counted and tracked on the appropriate paperwork.

 

  1. Cashiering:

 

  1. Accurately count money and make change.

 

  1. Accurately ring register being aware of proper pricing.

 

  1. Know Visa and MasterCard procedures, all forms of payment and discounts including Goody Bucks, Good Points and MGB.

 

  1. Properly bag merchandise.

 

  1. Alert management regarding altered tickets.

 

  1. Communicate specials to customers.

 

  1. Acknowledge all customers and contributors in a helpful & friendly manner

 

  1. Refer customers to management as warranted.

 

  1. Watch for shoplifting, for ticket switching and for non-store people in unauthorized areas.

 

  1. Maintain safe working and shopping environment.

 

  1. Ask every paying customer if they would like to Round Up (their change goes to support our Mission)

 

  1. Know how to properly use the overhead paging system and be able to make promotional announcements. 

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  1. Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

 

  1. Do bag checks on any employee that leave the building

 

SPECIFICATIONS

 

  1. High school diploma or equivalency diploma (GED).

 

  1. Ability to market Goodwill and explain mission to the general public.

 

  1. Ability to serve customers in a friendly and courteous manner.

 

  1. Ability to lead production associates to complete processing activities.

 

  1. Ability to work with people with disabilities.

 

  1. Ability to observe all safety precautions and communicate to employees.

 

  1. Knowledge of established policies and relevant occupational safety rules and practices.

 

  1. Ability to walk constantly for prolonged periods of time.

 

  1. Ability to reach and bend.

 

  1. Ability to properly lift heavy objects.

 

  1. Ability to open and close a store.

 

  1. Ability to do daily bank deposits, replenish change fund and pick up bank bags.

 

  1. Ability to handle refunds.

 

  1. Ability to run register and make change.

 

  1. Ability to handle customer complaints.

 

  1. Ability to route mail.

 

  1. Ability to maintain store operating money and petty cash fund.

 

  1. Ability to maintain records of store as required.

 

  1. Must have effective communication skills.

 

  1. Prior supervisory experience.

 

  1. Must be able to pass drug screen before receiving store keys and random drug tests thereafter

 

  1. Results of limited criminal history check must meet company standards.

 

  1. Must have a valid driver's license, access to and ability to drive a vehicle, and proof of vehicle insurance.

 

  1. Follow the dress code and wear designated identification as provided

  1. Light industrial area with significant dust.

  1. Compactor, must be 18 to operate.
