JOB OBJECTIVE:

 

To direct the smooth operation of a fast-paced retail store and present a positive image of Goodwill to the community. Position reports to the District Sales Manager. The Store Manager is responsible for the supervision of all store personnel.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  1. Knows and understands the Goodwill Mission: "Strengthen communities by empowering individuals and families through education, training and job     placement".

 

  1. Supervises Work Force

 

  1. Supervises store employees on a daily basis.

 

  1. Supervises orientation and training program for new employees.

 

  1. Holds sales meetings monthly.

 

  1. Schedules hours within set limits.

 

  1. Participates in the interviewing, hiring and termination decisions for all store personnel.

 

  1. Follow dress code and wear designated identification as provided.

 

  1. Supervises Stock Procedures

 

  1. Supervises handling of donations, returns, stock transfers.

 

  1. Quotes prices not on the price list.

 

  1. Checks condition and placement of stock.

 

  1. Maintains store appearance and shop-ability.

 

  1. Works to reduce internal theft and shoplifting.

 

  1. Ensures 2 textile audits are completed per textile hanger per day and all other processed racks are counted and tracked on the appropriate paperwork.

 

  1. Cashiering:

 

  1. Accurately count money and make change.

 

  1. Accurately ring register being aware of proper pricing.

 

  1. Know Visa and MasterCard procedures, all forms of payment and discounts including Goody Bucks, Good Points and MGB.

 

  1. Properly bag merchandise.

 

  1. Alert management regarding altered tickets.

 

  1. Communicate specials to customers.

 

  1. Acknowledge all customers and contributors in a helpful & friendly manner

 

  1. Refer customers to management as warranted.

 

  1. Watch for shoplifting, for ticket switching and for non-store people in unauthorized areas.

 

  1. Maintain safe working and shopping environment.

 

  1. Ask every paying customer if they would like to Round Up (their change             goes to support our Mission)

 

 

  1. Administrative and Clerical Operations

 

  1. Administers company policies and procedures.

 

  1. Supervises daily bank deposits, replenishes change fund and picks up bank bags.

 

  1. Handles refunds.

 

  1. Runs register and makes change.

 

  1. Handles customer complaints.

 

  1. Routes mail.

 

  1. Maintains store operating money and petty cash fund.

 

  1. Maintains records of store as required.

 

  1. Makes recommendations to the District Sales Manager based on analysis of records.

 

  1. Supervises the placement of signs in sale areas and windows for promotions and special events.

 

  1. Reports need for repairs to the District Sales Manager or Vice President of Transportation.

 

  1. Supervises the ordering of cleaning and maintenance supplies.

 

  1. Supervises inventories and supply requisitioning.

 

  1. Attends meetings as required.

 

  1. Security and Safety

 

  1. Maintains safety and security of the premises and merchandise.

 

  1. Seeks to control pilferage and prevent burglary.

 

  1. Eliminates fire hazards and unsafe conditions.

 

  1. Conducts emergency drills and instructs workers in fire prevention and safety procedures.

 

  1. Maintains a safe working and shopping environment.

 

  1. Do bag checks anytime an employee leaves the building.

 

  1. Fills in as needed to cover schedule in absence of other store employees.

 

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

 

  1. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

 

SPECIFICATIONS:

 

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.

 

  1. Must be well groomed and personable.

 

  1. Must have good eyesight, speech and hearing.

 

  1. Must have good physical stamina and moderate mobility as well as the ability to   lift, bend and work on feet for at least four (4) hour periods.

 

 

  1. Ability to distinguish colors.

 

  1. Ability to move filled boxes, barrels and Z-racks weighing no more than 50            

 

  1. Ability to read, write and do simple math functions.

 

  1. Ability to work well under pressure.

 

  1. Ability to exercise good judgment.

 

  1. Must have effective communication skills.

 

  1. Prior supervisory experience.

 

  1. Must have prior experience in dealing with the public and the ability to do so

 

  1. Must be sales oriented.

 

  1. Must have a telephone.

 

  1. Must have a current driver's license, access to and ability to drive a vehicle, and proof of vehicle insurance.

 

  1. Must be bondable.

 

  1. Ability to carry out established organizational and departmental policies and procedures as described in the Employee Handbook and Staff Manual.

 

  1. Ability to be a working Manager.

 

  1. Ability to work a flexible schedule; opening and closing the store, working long days as necessary. Filling in at other stores as needed.

 

  1. Must be able to pass drug screen before receiving store keys and random drug test thereafter.

 

  1. Results of limited criminal history check must meet company standards.

 

 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

 

  1. Standard retail environment with significant dust.

 

  1. Light industrial area.

  1. Z-Racks.

 

  1. Tagging Gun.

 

 

  1. Copy Machine.

  1. Forklift, must be 18 with certification.

 

  1. Pallet Jack.

 

  1. Pallet Stacker.

 

  1. Compactor, must be 18 to operate.
